If you have done a family road trip, you know they can some times mean chaos and fighting in the car. One of the BEST ways we’ve found to get the kids to settle down, is by listening to a good audiobook. Even the three year old happily pipes down in the backseat and listens in to the stories.

These are some of our favorite audiobooks for 5-7 year olds. The best part is, they are friendly for brothers and sisters so you can diminish fighting during deciding which book to listen to, too!
You could also rent books on CD from your local library, but I’m always scared I’ll lose the CDs on a trip, so I think Audible is a better option for travel.

I just added the Boxcar Children to my amazon wish list yesterday! I read almost the entire series when I was little and am excited to share them with my kids soon 🙂 And we already love the Magic Tree House series! Great list 🙂
