This made me think of the modern practice of photographing the family valuables to aid in idoeiiftcatinn if they should be stolen!Somehow I wasn’t entirely surprised that such a magnificent volume should be created for the Habsburg dynasty – the family of the Holy Roman Emperor (i.e. empire builders to a man).

I remember watching Tila Tequila on MTV last year. It was so terrible … she was basically a beer spodsemokel looking for love by going on reality tv. She came out with a book recently – more fame whoring and milking money out of people for doing nothing!

Yes, it is exatsuhing. I wrote this post, stumbled home in the snow, kissed my girls hello and fell into bed for a two-plus hour nap and slept like I was drugged. SO exhausting. I agree that forgiveness is key and I am not so sure why it is so hard to come by. I wonder if forgiveness is in fact a life skill that we can learn? I believe that, like you say, deep down we know what is right and we let go at the moment when we feel we can, but it is still so hard. The snow here is insane. And absolutely gorgeous.

I am a home daycare provider. My kids learn a parent’s phone number, mom and dad’s full name, sibling’s names, my full name, and their home town by age 3. Once they are a bit older, they learn their address. I use the M-I-C-K-E-Y. M-O-U-S-E. song. (111-222-3333) for phone numbers. I use a made up tune for addresses. 1111 street name, street name, street name. 1111 street name, my town, my state.

This is such a great reminder of how important it is to teach our children these things. It’s easy to get wrapped up in life and think it can’t happen to you, but if it does you will have wished you did these simple things. Thanks!

This is a great list! Another thing to add is to take a picture on your phone of what your kids are wearing before going out on your big adventure for the day. While you might not do this every time you go to the grocery store, it’s a good idea before heading out to a theme park or the beach – if your child gets lost you have that photo to show people while you search for them!
