Eating healthy while traveling can be a huge challenge. Whether it’s gas station snacks or fast food lunches it’s easy to let even the best of intentions slip until we find ourselves back home with a few extra pounds.
Last week, I was given the opportunity to interview Food Network Star, Sunny Anderson and she shared some amazing tips for eating right while traveling. She grew up traveling the world as an “army brat” and now she is the host of several Food Network shows including co-host of the network’s Daytime Emmy-nominated show The Kitchen. She continues to travel for both business and pleasure.
One tips she offers is to be picky at the gas station when you stop for snacks. You know, when I think of gas station snacks what comes to mind is candy and chips… but she brought up the good point that you can just as easily find nuts or light popcorn on an end cap!
She also pays attention to where she stays. Finding hotels with kitchens can mean you are able to prepare some of your own meals and have more control over where you are eating!
