What to Pack When Traveling With Baby

Taking a trip with a baby? We’ve pulled together some of the BEST things that you need to make your vacation with baby easier.

I always think it’s funny, traveling with an infant, because so many times you need more bags for baby than you do for mom and dad combined. Even if you are trying to reel it in to the basics, here are the top things to make that trip easy!

Baby Carrier

Start with a solid baby carrier. Our favorite by far is the ERGO baby carrier. Even if you don’t baby wear when you’re not on vacation, getting a carrier for your trip is always a good idea. Be it airports, Disney, the beach or anywhere else you always tend to do more walking on trips. Baby carriers make this easier and more doable. The ERGO in particular is helpful because it is lightweight, folds down easily AND wears like a backpack so the weight of the baby is held on your hips not your shoulders or back. Makes a day of carrying baby around a lot less tiring!

Teether

Even if baby isn’t teething yet, babies tend to take it upon themselves to start teething at the least convenient time possible. This means, vacation for sure Make sure you bring a couple of extra teethers along with you so that you don’t find yourself rushing to the store for something in the middle of the night. More of our favorite teethers.

Baby Tent Bed

This tent is better than a pack n’ play in our opinion. Baby can’t climb out of it during naptime, it folds up small, is much more lightweight AND the mattress part is more comfortable. Our favorite by far!

A good umbrella stroller

While there are many umbrella strollers on the market, I usually choose to get a middle-of-the-road stroller in terms of price. If you go much cheaper than this, the handles are so low you have to hunch over to push it. Others, provide more comfort and amazing features, but the price point is a bit high if you are purchasing a stroller specifically for your trip (though this is our favorite one if money is not an issue). If you are flying, make sure you get a gate check bag for your stroller.

Baby Proofing Gear

If baby is mobile, make sure you bring plug covers and other baby proofing devices with you to the hotel or even your relative’s houses.

Inflatable Baby Bath

The baby bath deflates so it’s easy to pack up and toss in your bag for bathing baby on the go.

Puffs

If your baby is old enough, puffs are a great snack to keep on hand when traveling. You can’t always have a bottle or pull over to nurse, so puffs can help baby not be too hungry while you find a good spot to stop.

Extra onesies

Trust us, you’ll need way more onesies than you’d think. If you are traveling on a plane, make sure you have 3 or 4 extra outfits in your carry on bag in case of an emergency out of either end.

Of course you’ll need tons of diapers too!

Bonus tip! You can order all of this through your amazon mom account. You’ll save 20% on diaper subscriptions and so much more. It’s perfect for getting discounts on all the things you need for baby both during your trip and after!
